The challenge
Sementra has a natural hot spring and a natural spring-water pool. Almost no Malaysian resort has one. Sementra has both. Hardly anyone knew it was there.
The few who found it weren’t convinced. The branding and communication didn’t match what the place actually was, and the targeting wasn’t reaching the people most likely to book. So it lost guests to properties with a weaker asset and better presentation. Occupancy stayed low.
Fixing that took more than a campaign. It meant working on how the resort was positioned, how it was sold, and what guests found when they arrived.
The strategy
We started with the business, not the brand. Who Sementra is for, what the hot spring is actually worth to that guest, and what the resort needs to charge to be viable.
From there, how it goes to market: channels, seasons and direct booking, built around how people actually choose where to stay.
Identity, photography, film and campaign work, built so the resort looks like what it is when a guest finds it online.
Seasonal campaigns, social and content produced on an ongoing basis for five years. Not a launch, but a resort that keeps showing up properly through peak, monsoon and shoulder seasons.
Five years in, Sementra brought us into decisions about the business itself. We read what guests were writing online and turned it into a list the resort could act on: facility upgrades and experience fixes that supported higher room and dining rates. A brand promise only holds if the property delivers it.
We also built yoga retreat sessions, designed to sell the hot springs to a guest who books for a weekend rather than a night.
