18 July, Singapore. A cloudy sky over Orchard Road, and our camera set up on a balcony above the atrium of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, waiting for the sun.
A renovated hospital, shown through people
Mount Elizabeth Hospital has just finished Project Renaissance, a S$350 million, three-year renovation (MedTech Spectrum). IHH asked us to show the new hospital through human moments, in photos and short clips for its future marketing and PR. Our team spent four days in Singapore on the job.

45 minutes for one shot
The atrium was the hardest shot of the trip. We wanted real sunlight coming through the glass windows and roof, for bright light, strong shadows and a cinematic mood. The day was cloudy and the sun kept coming and going, so the whole team stayed on standby with the camera ready to roll the moment the light came through. After about 45 minutes, we had the shot. The client told us no photographer or videographer had shown that space this way before.

The sun kept coming and going, so the whole team stood by, ready to roll the second the light came through. Forty-five minutes later, we had the shot.

Two long takes through the hospital
We also filmed two long shots where the camera glides in one take, from the registration counter all the way to the lifts. They’re good to watch, and they show the real space at the same time: how the hospital looks, how it feels to walk through and how people move in it. IHH told us nobody had filmed the hospital like this before, and the shots show off the renovation well.
Raw files and a new corporate video
We handed IHH every raw photo and clip, so its team can keep using the material for future campaigns. We also produced a new version of its corporate video, combining the existing film with our new footage and a new voiceover, so the film now shows the renovated hospital.
If you’d like to see more, there’s another hospital shoot we did for IHH, or a look at what we do.
